On 26 August, representatives of the Chamber participated in the international Collaborate2Win seminar, organized in Almaty by the Department of Justice of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region together with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

For us, participation in the event was an opportunity to further develop direct professional ties with Hong Kong in the context of the rapidly expanding investment and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong.

In recent months, this cooperation has gained significant momentum at the governmental level. In June 2026, Kazakhstan’s leadership held meetings in Astana with John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, as well as representatives of the business communities of Hong Kong and Mainland China. During the visit, four intergovernmental memoranda and 42 commercial agreements and memoranda were signed, covering, among other areas, finance, trade, investment, technology and innovation.

It is in this broader context that we view our participation in Collaborate2Win — as an opportunity to develop the professional infrastructure necessary to support future cross-border investments and business projects.
During the event, we had the opportunity to meet with the Hong Kong delegation headed by the Secretary for Justice of Hong Kong, as well as representatives of law firms and professional organizations.

We explored the opportunities that Hong Kong offers to international business — from investment and financial instruments to mechanisms for resolving cross-border disputes and international arbitration, including the services and opportunities provided by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).
One of the particularly valuable aspects of the event was the opportunity to engage directly with colleagues from law firms based in Hong Kong. We reached agreements on further professional cooperation, including in the areas of cross-border transactions and international projects.

For KazBar, one of the key outcomes of the meeting was an agreement with the Law Society of Hong Kong to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation in the near future.
We expect the Memorandum to provide a foundation for systematic cooperation between the legal communities of the two jurisdictions, including mutual support for lawyers, exchange of professional experience and knowledge, development of joint educational initiatives, as well as cooperation in supporting cross-border transactions and international cases.

For us, it is particularly important that the development of intergovernmental and economic ties is now being further advanced at the level of professional communities.
KazBar continues to strengthen international partnerships and create new opportunities for Kazakhstani lawyers amid the expansion of cross-border cooperation between Kazakhstan, Hong Kong and Asian markets.
