Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the Chamber of Legal Consultants "Kazakhstan Bar Association" (hereinafter referred to as the "KazBar Chamber"),

Any individual meeting the requirements established by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Advocacy and Legal Assistance" and the Charter of the KazBar Chamber may become a member of the KazBar Chamber

Pursuant to Clause 4.2 of the Charter of the KazBar Chamber, membership is open to citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan permanently residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as foreign nationals permanently residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan, who meet the following qualification requirements:

  • hold a higher legal education degree;
  • have at least two years of professional legal experience;
  • have successfully completed the Chamber's attestation process (see detailed information on the attestation stages below);
  • providing legal assistance;
  • comply with the Chamber's membership requirements;
  • accept the Charter of the KazBar Chamber;
  • share the principles and values of the KazBar Chamber;

If you meet the above requirements, you may become a member of KazBar Chamber.

To apply for membership, you must:

1. Submit the following documents:

  • a completed and personally signed application in the prescribed form (Application for Membership in the KazBar Chamber);
  • an identity card or passport;
  • a document confirming higher legal education (a university diploma confirming the award of a Bachelor's degree in Law);
  • a Certificate Confirming the Absence of an Outstanding or Unexpunged Criminal Record;
  • documents confirming at least two years of professional legal experience;
  • certificates issued by psychiatric and narcological clinics;
  • a certificate confirming successful completion of the test on the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan*;
  • curriculum vitae (CV).

*This certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the legislation test in accordance with the attestation procedure described below. It must be included in your application package for membership in the KazBar Chamber.

Confirmation of Professional Legal Experience.

To confirm your professional legal experience, please provide a scanned copy of your employment record book.

If you do not have an employment record book, please submit scanned copies of the primary employment documents, including:

  • an employment agreement (confidential information may be redacted where necessary);
  • orders relating to appointment, transfer, dismissal, etc.;
  • a job description, where the job title does not clearly indicate a legal position.

Please note:

Employer's certificates, extracts issued by the State Corporation "Government for Citizens" (UAPF), and similar documents are considered supporting documents only and do not replace the primary employment records.

Other official documents that reliably confirm professional legal experience may also be accepted.

Above documents:

  • Please scan the above documents and send them by email to Alina Zhumakhanova, Lawyer of the KazBar Chamber, at lawyer@kazbar.org.kz
  • Obtain an official referral to take the legislation test from the Executive Body of the KazBar Chamber after your documents have been reviewed for compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Charter of the KazBar Chamber.
  • Complete the first stage of the attestation process — the mandatory comprehensive test on the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan — and submit the certificate issued by the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with your test results to Alina Zhumakhanova at lawyer@kazbar.org.kz.
  • Complete the second stage of the attestation process by attending an interview conducted either in person or online, unless the Attestation Commission decides to assess your application based on the submitted documents.
  • Await the decision of the Attestation Commission and the Management Board of the KazBar Chamber. Applications are considered within 14 calendar days, provided that all required documents have been submitted and all legal requirements have been met.
